Mala Luna Music Festival Supporting Young Local Artists Joining Hands with NYA

Usually, October counts as a time when Texas starts to get a little cooler but the hot lineup of this year’s Mala Luna Music Festival is sure to provide enough heat this October. This Annual Festival give equal opportunity to local young artists to all the more famous artists that have gained a prominent in the music industry.

The Headliners of this year’s festival are some of the well-known Hip Hop and R&B artists such as Cardi B, Nicky Jam and Tyler, The Creator. The reason this festival is so special is that every year a large contribution is made to Network of Young Artist, (a non-profit help and support group for less privileged local music artists), by the Festival Promoters.

To this Year the NYA has supported many young and struggling artists who have become a working musician on this date. The organizations provide fantastic opportunities for these young artists through cultural performances offered in school.

According to the Mala Luna Music Festival’s Director, Gina Hirsch the funds earned at the festival help in providing inexpensive classes to these young artists in guitar, dance, percussion, keyboard, and voice.

This year NYA Artists get a chance to perform in front of their hometown crowd as Mala Luna Festival is featuring many of the local artists in association with NYA.

“Mala Luna has invited two young San Antonians, Gracelyn Gomez and Marissa Rose Mejia, to perform this year,” Hirsch said. “They’re actually performing as part of our partnership with Network for Young Artists.”

This partnership such as between ScoreMore and NYA, that Hirsch has mentioned enables local young artists to perform in Festivals like Mala Luna Music Festival. this results in a relationship that is beneficial to artists as well as the festival both culture wise and Financial hold. Plus, the artists receive a sum of funds from the donation money to up bring their music career in the industry.

The three headliners of this year Mala Luna Music Festival are new to San Antonio but have made a protruding mark in the music industry so far. One of the headliners, Cardi B has received Best New Artist Award recently in VMA 2018 and since 2017 has also made into US Billboard Hot 100 for two of the hit singles. Her performance at Mala Luna will be her first after giving birth to her daughter Kulture in the July of this year.

Nicky Jam, on the other hand, has received 30 awards and overall 105 nominations during the course of his career from various establishments such as AMA, Billboard Music Awards and Billboard Latin Music Awards.

Last but not the least Tyler, The Creator is a successful rapper, producer and director has earned many awards and nominations from MTV Video Music and Grammys.

According to the director Hirsch, this year line up will be a little different than the previous years.

She said, “We wanted to really celebrate San Antonio’s heritage, as well as the locals that have been so great to us, by not only bringing the best in hip-hop and EDM but also incorporating Latin and Latin-influenced artists into this year’s lineup.”

The two-day festival is to be held on 27 and 28 October 2018, bringing along a full weekend jam-packed with countless music acts, art illustrations, local food vendors and merchants.

The artists who include in this year’s Mala Luna Music Festival Lineup other than the popular headliners will be Rico Nasty, Lil Pump, Smokepurpp, Gunna, BlocBoy, and the two of the NYA Young Artist from San Antonio Gracelyndd Gomez and Marissa Rose Mejia.

The Mala Luna Music Festival Tickets are on sale now and are available to purchase at their official website. The prices start at 79$ for admission, two-day General Admission passes for the weekend are available at 109$ and VIP Tickets can also be availed.
