One of Paul's six stunning penalties came from five metres inside his own half while Deacon's third one-pointer was a towering 40-metre effort."Henry was fantastic and it's all down to practice," the Bradford coach Brian Noble said "He practises every day. We talked about knocking points off every time we got to that part of the field. Paul Deacon's drop goals were innovative and kept them under the cosh."St Helens were on course for their first win in Bradford since 1995 when they scored the only tries of a pulsating first half through the impressive David Fairleigh, who later added a second, and the wing Anthony Stewart.Meanwhile, Wigan stay on the heels of Bradford after a 28-12 victory over Warrington at the JJB Stadium. The Warriors captain, Andy Farrell, dominated the match. In a bad-tempered affair, three players received yellow cards and the Wigan prop forward Harvey Howard was put on report. The Wigan coach Stuart Raper took a swipe at Warrington's tactics.

"Their game plan was simple and predictable and, if that's the way they are going to play, the game is going backwards," he said."Widnes, who will be in Super League next season, have lost two of the players who got them there. Richard Agar and Matthew Long have moved to Rochdale rather than go full-time, along with their former Dewsbury team-mate, Damien Ball.. Leeds strengthened their chances of hanging on to their place in the play-offs with three tries – two of them in as many minutes – in a much-improved second-half display at The Jungle. The Rhinos looked vulnerable until Karl Pratt scored one try and set up another with a kick which Castleford failed to mop up. It was not an entirely convincing performance, but it keeps the London Broncos at bay for at least a while longer.Castleford thought they had taken the lead after just five minutes, but Francis Cummins prevented Darren Rogers from grounding the ball in the corner. They should have been ahead again when Mark Lennon missed an easy penalty, but Kevin Sinfield made no such mistake for Leeds when Cas were caught offside. The Tigers continued to look as though they had the beating of a Leeds side still adjusting to life without Iestyn Harris, but they sabotaged themselves with basic handling errors. For their part, Leeds were looking more workmanlike than of late, with Darren Fleary and Anthony Farrell bringing some much-needed starch to their pack. They could have ended a rather scruffy and inconclusive half in a better position if Cummins' touchdown had been allowed to stand, but play was brought back for an earlier knock-on.Instead, Cas took advantage of their let-off, Lennon's fine pass picking out Eagar on the left and this time there were no mishaps on the way to the line with Lennon also adding the goal from the touchline.Castleford consolidated after the break with Dale Fritz and Jan Roper handling smartly for Jon Wells to do well to squeeze in at the corner.Leeds hit back through Keith Senior, running on to Sinfield's pass – any doubts about the legality of a previous play-the-ball were allayed by the video referee.Leeds now looked far more purposeful but it was up against the run of play when they regained the lead just after the hour, Pratt taking Ryan Sheridan's pass and spinning out of a tackle for a try improved by Sinfield.Their third, two minutes later, came from a comical error as Jason Flowers failed to clear Pratt's kick and Mark Calderwood simply planted his hand on the loose ball.A Cummins drop goal gave Leeds a further cushion in the last few minutes.Castleford: Flowers; Wells, Roper, Eagar, Rogers; Healey, Lennon; Sykes, Shaw, Sampson, Smith, Fritz, Harland. Substitutes used: Rooney, Gay, Charles, Lynch.Leeds: Cummings; Walker, Carroll, Senior, Calderwood; Pratt, Sheridan; Fleary, Mears, McDermott, Mercer, Farrell, Sinfield.

Substitutes used: Wrench, Ward, Mathiou.Referee: K Kirkpatrick (Warrington).. In a way, Iestyn Harris ought to be grateful that his arm injury will keep him out of action until October. The season that has started this weekend is bewildering enough to someone who has spent his entire career in rugby union, let alone one about to play it for the first time in his life. The season that has started this weekend is bewildering enough to someone who has spent his entire career in rugby union, let alone one about to play it for the first time in his life. I have no doubt that Iestyn will be a success with Cardiff and Wales. I've watched his career closely since he was a youngster at Warrington when I played there and I have long considered him to be one of the great rugby talents of his generation.
